Environment as pertains to our shrimp product
Butch & Cubba's insulated shipping system is the world's most environmentally friendly cold chain shipper. Our insulation comes from natural earth product, basalt rock (which is volcanic rock), and when returned to the earth, it degrades 100% into earth's most natural product, dirt, inside of one year.
Our insulation is encapsulated and made available in two different plastics. Our original silver is an FDA Grade polyester Mylar type plastic glued together with an environmentally friendly glue. Our corrugated boxes are easily returned to recycling centers. No hazardous gases are produced during or after completion of the manufacturing process.
The insulation will crush to one fifth its original size and is environmentally safe and void of any hazardous organic material. Our shipping system is one of the few worldwide which has no restrictions when taken to landfills.
Shrimping off the Georgia coast is a fully sustainable industry. You cannot over shrimp. The coastal Georgia waters are loaded with natural nutrient-rich food for shrimp. Plus, there are warm currents, a shallow and preserved coastline and large tidal flows/changes. These factors are unique in the world. They provide natural filtration, promote rapid shrimp growth, abundant large-size shrimp availability and a large annual harvest. Finally, the waters are free from industrial activities and population centers.
